Compendium21
Leaping into the 21st century
Are you obtaining desired results?
School systems spend millions of dollars on technology every year. Yet, most of this technology is not being used effectively. While many teachers possess basic computer skills such as checking email and surfing the web, they have received little or no training on how to use technology to deliver the curriculum they are required to teach. This can result in boring lectures, tuned-out students, higher dropout rates and no connection between spending and student achievement.
Take the Leap
TechKNOW’s experienced professional development consultants mentor your teachers in the classroom, using project-based learning (PBL) that correlates directly to their planned curriculum and NCLB, state, and local standards. We provide your teachers with hands-on training and encouragement, helping them plan, implement, and effectively present each module to their students.
We offer train-the-trainer sessions for districts that want to enable their own staff development specialists. By using our proven methods, you will take the leap to improved student skills and achievement.
TechKNOW Associates has carefully crafted PBL training modules that are customized to address the needs of individual schools and teachers.
Teachers learn the skills they need in real-time in the context of content they already are teaching while addressing the various learning styles of their students.
Students develop strong research skills while using the Internet, print materials, and computer software and demonstrate understanding using, real world relevant tools such as movies, podcasts, wikis, and multimedia presentations.
TechKNOW Training Modules set high academic goals and offer the means to achieve them.
A distinct component of each module is its adaptability. Teachers can adjust any or all of the following structures to meet their students’ needs more adequately:
- Group Size
- Time On Task
- Level of Support
- Task Difficulty
